WE is seeking an experienced full-time Associate Director to join our team in India. The Associate Director will educate and empower the in-country team, the fly-in facilitation team, and work close with the WE Charity India team to provide life changing experiences to youth, families and corporations. The Associate Director will be responsible for ensuring the India program is of the utmost quality with the highest attention of detail given to risk management and the safety of our staff and participants. The position is based out of ME to WE’s office in Udaipur, Rajasthan in India with frequent travel to the Kumbhalgarh Region.

Your Impacts:
Responsible for the quality and development of the ME to WE trip program in India.  The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Client Experience

  • Create a holistic experience that makes participants on trip feel safe, comfortable and connected to the idea of travel with purpose
  • Ensure a high standard of service at our Araveli Lodge as well as with all vendors we partner with for our trips program
  • Problem-solve and support staff with escalated issues

Trip logistics, coordination and execution

  • Oversee the logistics related to our trips and coordinate those details with staff and vendors
  • Create and manage the budget for trips
  • Identify areas for savings and efficiencies by maximizing our resources and vendor relationships
  • Liaison with our headquarters office in Toronto who are responsible for all pre-trip coordination

Risk Management

  • Manage the Risk Management procedures in country, and ensure procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Provide immediate support and guidance to facilitators to ensure the health and safety of trip participants
  • Problem-solve escalated issues
  • Ensure the Trips Standard Operating Procedures and India Risk Management guidelines are adhered to by the India team, fly-in facilitators, and all trip partners
  • Ensure high standard of service and safety to participants including lodging, transportation, meals and volunteer experience
  • Responsibility for 24 hour India emergency phone

Program Management

  • Strategic quarterly planning
  • Manage quality connections and programming from the build site to community interactions to cultural experiences
  • Responsible for management of logistics and operations related to preparation and execution of ME to WE programming in India
  • Responsible for management of logistics, including transportation, programming, bookings, accommodation, inventory, build site tasks, etc.
  • Oversee the itinerary creation for Youth and Corporate & Family trips and customization based on client needs
  • Relationship management with third party accommodations, transporters, and vendors
  • Work on an integrated basis with a variety of departments in the Toronto office

Team Management

  • Provide leadership, management and supervision to the India trips team and fly-in facilitators who lead the trip experience
  • Provide problem solving and logistical support to staff
  • Train and develop Cultural Facilitators who are local staff from the region working on a contract basis
  • Provide orientation to fly-in facilitators who arrive 1 or 2 days before their trip begins

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a strong ambassador for WE Charity in India, with expert knowledge on the projects in country
  • Facilitate trips during the shoulder season

What you bring:

  • Experience in and knowledge of ME to WE Trips programming
  • Demonstrated interest in India social issues and culture
  • Experience living and working in different cultures
  • High level of professionalism with strong work ethic
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills that translates to a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines and to manage the time of the facilitators
  • Public speaking
  • Flexibility with delegated tasks and responsibilities as the position evolves
  • Training and experience in risk management
  • Background in wilderness first aid an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience
  • Teaching certificate and/or experience planning curriculum
  • Experience assessing needs, budgeting, implementing programs oversees
  • Experience coordinating youth and volunteer trips is an asset
  • Creativity, initiative, and problem solving
  • Hindi as a second language is an asset
