An exciting opportunity exist for the right individuals to join a progressive non-profit organization as a Support Worker in our Children and Youth Department. The position entails working in specialized residence with a 12 year old youth who is diagnosed with OCD, ADHD and challenging behaviors.
The ideal candidate must have experience supporting youth with complex behaviours and an understanding of the challenges they present for youth. We are looking for an indidual that can facilitate many phyical activites and community integration such as hiking, going to the park, and other physically active programming. This youth needs structure in his schedule but also needs a mentor that will understand when an activity might need to be changed or adjusted due to the needs of the youth. This youth is intelligent and sensitive. We are looking for individuals with strong boundries but who also have a sense of adventure and are willing to build a meaningful relationship with our client.
You must possess knowledge of positive behavioural support strategies, visual support strategies, sensory support strategies, medication administration, critical thinking skills, have the ability to write reports and complete the necessary documentation, as well as maintain boundaries, provide daily structure and consistently follow the support plan outlined within a warm and supportive environment. Training is provided if you are the successful candidate.
16-56 Friday 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, Saturday 6:00 am-2:00 pm (temporary)
16-120 Friday-Saturday 3:00 pm-11:00 pm
We are also looking to fill casual positions at our locations in Richmond, North Vancouver, and Vancouver. In order to qualify for a casual position candidates must be available for 3 shifts a week including one on the weekend.
Must be able to obtain:
-Criminal record check
-Negative TB test
First Aid and CPR Certificate
-Food Safe Certificate
-Mandt Certificate-given through Strive
-Class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract
Compensation: $18.83, plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.
