Supervises: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Cooks

Employee status: Full-time, permanent

Hours per week: Up to 37.5


Position Purpose

The Chef de Partie is responsible for the day to day kitchen operation for a particular section including but not limited to preparing and executing menus according to the AMS recipes. The Chef de Partie ensures the quality and presentation of the food, promotes a safe and healthy work environment by following AMS Health & Safety. S/he is a leader by example ensuring that the team members adhere to AMS standards at all times.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Sous Chef to ensure ensures the quality and presentation of the food, promotes a safe and healthy work environment by following AMS Health & Safety and WorksafeBC standards
  • Ordering and preparing goods as needed to meet the expected business volumes
  • Executing orders in a timely manner to meet or exceed guest expectations in accordance to AMS standards
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen to the highest standards
  • Following AMS recipes and reducing food waste
  • Ensuring ongoing safe operation of appliances, equipment and tools (WHIMIS)
  • Working with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department
  • Shift work (daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays), on call
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year kitchen experience as Chef de Partie in a high volume facility
  • Minimum Food Safe level 1 certification or higher
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multitasking environment with little supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 12 kgs (26.4lbs)
  • Ability  to do shift work (daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays), on call
  • Good oral and written English communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Kitchen supervisory experience an asset
