Full Time Overnight Youth Worker
Who we are: Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS) is a not-for-profit Agency working with youth facing difficult realities.
Currently we have a vacancy for a Youth Worker in our Nexus program that provides overnight shelter to youth, and access to supports for re-housing.
Working as part of a team, responsibilities include:
- Direct supervision of youth accessing the Nexus program
- Individual assessments and referral to appropriate supports and services
- Completing documentation in a timely, accurate, and professional documentation (i.e. Contact Notes, Incident Reports, etc.)
- Ensuring Program and agency spaces are cleaned to agency standards
- Other housekeeping duties as required
Candidates must be available to work overnight shifts from 8:45 pm - 8:45 am which includes every second weekend.
Qualifications: A Certificate, diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or other related Human Services is mandatory. CYCAA certification or other related certification will be considered an asset.
A minimum of two years’ experience in the human services field (working with youth facing difficult realities) is preferred.
Other requirements: A clear police clearance check and a Child Intervention Record check, (both obtained within the last six months), valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract. Candidates must also be knowledgeable and respectful of the values, beliefs and practices of Aboriginal and other cultural groups. Basic computer skills, experience with ETO, training in First Aid, Mental Health First Aid for adults who interact with youth, and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention will be considered an asset.
Salary Range: $ 35,609.60 - $ 49,108.80 (will be based on education and relevant experience)
On completion of six months, full time permanent staff will be eligible for Agency paid insurance benefits.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, friendly, with a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to build good relationships.
