Manager, Finance & Administration


The Finance & Administration Manager contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization. Provide internal and external stakeholders with necessary financial information and reports in a timely manner. The Finance & Administration Manager plays a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Nechako Valley Community Services Society (NVCSS) continues to enhance its quality programming and capacity building.

Education & Experience

  • Finance Bachelor’s Degree or a Business degree with a concentration in finance. Preference is given to Professional Accounting Designation
  • At least two to five years of overall professional experience; ideally a broad financial and operations management experience
  • Financial management experience including payroll functions with a demonstrated working knowledge of computerized accounting programs, budgeting processes, correct financial accounting documentation and files (in accordance with GAAP), specific community based programs and services, and applicable legislation and policies
  • Must be competent in word processing and the use of word, works, excel, access and internet banking and be familiar with a computerized payroll and accounting programs, specifically Simply Accounting and ComVida.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector a strong asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation on Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, and Human Rights

HOURS OF WORK     30 hours per week and the ability to work a flexible schedule: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
