Community Integration Worker

Contract beginning November 2016 and ending no later than September, 2017


The Community Integration (CI) Worker position is an exciting opportunity to work with local stakeholders in the redevelopment of three vital youth-led, safe and accessible community spaces.  These spaces operate unique programs that serve the needs of the community as part of the Youth Challenge Fund (YCF) and United Way of Toronto and York Region (UWTYR).



  • Assist in the preparation of funding proposals and outcome reports by maintaining accurate and current records and statistics.
  • Liaise with, and consult to the community in order to assist in the identification and motivation of adult allies (i.e. volunteers, staff, community members and partners) to provide mentorship and support to youth.
  • Assist in the development of youth-led governance for each identified location.
  • Assist in the development of collaborative community partnerships.
  • Assist in the development of programming that meet community needs by engaging youth and their families.



  • Child and Youth Worker diploma/degree or related diploma/degree required;
  • 2 years of directly related experience working with at-risk youth and young adults, preferably within the community;
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
  • Computer literacy with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team;
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and community engagement;
  • Strong commitment to the principles and practices of youth engagement;
  • Directly related experience working with youth and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of focus groups;
  • Eligible for certification/membership in relevant professional association;
  • Vulnerable Police check will be required prior to commencing position; and,
  • Preferred candidates will be bilingual in both official languages.
