This is a full-time contract position (40 hours/week).
The Family Based Intervention Program provides in-home family aide and support services to strengthen the efforts and abilities of the family to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children. As a Family Aid Worker, you are a teacher, mentor and advocate to children and families in need. Your strong facilitation skills allow you to effectively teach parents life management skills such as: money management, employment, nutrition, meal planning and preparation, home management, self care, health and leisure. You work closely with families through home visits to support the development of communication, and problem solving skills.
Assisting Aboriginal families in accessing elders and traditional knowledge keepers and other community resources is made easy by your strong relationship building and leadership skills. You are passionate and dedicated to helping families reach their fullest potential by empowering parents and children to seek and foster meaningful relationships and emotional bonds.
You have a Diploma in a human services field and some experience working with children and families. Experience with in-home family support is preferred. This position involves 24 hour crisis intervention. A vehicle and valid driver’s licence are required.
