Lydia Marston-Blaauw is the principal of LMB & Associates.  She began her consultancy practice in early 2006 after a career of over 25 years in professional arts management and leadership.  She specialises in practical planning strategies for the arts sector and in creating workable links and successful ties between municipal agencies and the not-for-profit creative community.

  • Lydia Marston-Blaauw is a creative leader with strong relationship-building skills and is a diplomatic negotiator with a proven ability to bring programming and capital projects to fruition.  She has been both a successful producing theatre manager and theatre facility executive director.
  • She has a wide knowledge of technical requirements for performance and visual art presentation as well as publication design and has been involved in curatorial work for community-based Galleries. 
  • Her work in the Province's "Diverse Collaborations" Granting Program has provided her with an understanding of performing artists of diverse cultures and aboriginal artists and their communities.   
  • She has worked extensively with several architectural teams to create long and short term capital plans and to supervise building projects.  


  • Coordinator of the Province's Community Presenters Assistance, a grant program serving community arts clients across BC (2006 - 2008);
  • Executive Director of 1,260 seat Massey Theatre (1998 to 2006) a school related theatre operated by an independent Society and hosting over 250 public performances with over 130,000 guests annually;
  • General Manager (1989 - 1995) of Western Canada Theatre Company (WCTC), producing two fully professional theatre seasons in the 734 seat proscenium and 165 seat studio theatres;
  • Manager of 738 seat Sagebrush Theatre, (1990-1993), operated under a joint use agreement between the City and School District and managed by WCTC;
  • Marketing Manager for WCTC;
  • Broadcaster and TV Host for CBC Television;
  • Fundraiser-Development Director for both Massey and WCTC.
