I work with individuals and groups in communities to develop social and economic opportunities, and mitigate the effects of these activities on the environment and social structures. I have helped create local and regional success in enterprise, health, and education. I am a mediator and focus on multi-stakeholder groups. My present work includes a project on cumulative environmental effects and one focusing on employee relations. I have worked with multi stakeholder groups to resolve isues and find collaborative solutions in the health, labour and management and resource sectors.
Range of services that you provide yourself and/or through your organization
Mediation - two party and multi-stakeholder situations that are best served by a content neutral facilitator or a formal mediation process. In the workplace I conduct group mediaitons or workplace mediation conferences where issues between parties often impact the larger group in ways that are subtle and difficult to recognize.
Facilitation - I provide support to create an appropriate meeting structure for the purpose of dialogue, planning and decision making. I offer various decision making processes and workshops to support the capacity of groups to engage in effective discussions and consensus decision making.
Organizational development and change management- I work with groups of companies and non-profit organizations to form strategic alliances, value chains or collaborative partnerships.
At the grassroots level I work to help develop strong self-help and community based support groups. In companies and or non-profit organizations I work to develop strong workplace teams and the skills that enable individuals to work well together.
Years spent providing services to the non-profit sector
I began my career in the non-profit sector with the YMCA in 1969. In those thirty something years since, I have worked in various roles including staff member, executive director, consultant, volunteer and board member. In the non-profit sector I have covered everything from Freestyle Skiing to Seafood Processing, from Alzheimer Disease to Schizophrenia, and in ethnically and, socially diverse groups.
Describe your experience base
I have developed workshops and curricula for business development programs, facilitator training, group development, crisis management, conflict resolution, consensus building, community capacity building, value chain development, and collaborative partnerships.
I have facilitated and mediated multi-stakeholder meetings on:
Health and social issues including - HIV/Aids, Schizophrenia, and Self-Help
Environment and resource issues including - Cumulative Effects in North Eastern Alberta and seafood processing in BC
Labour management relations including, joint labour management committees in the rail, high tech, communications and government sectors, change management and employee relations.

Mediator/Facilitator $175. hour. Mediation fees are shared between the parties unless otherwise agreed. First consultation hour is free. Rates negotiable depending on duration of contract.

For non-profit groups and small grassroots organziations, requests for pro bono work accepted.
