Facilitate successful tenancies for your clients facing challenges

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team with the goal of fostering successful tenancies, you will provide low-income individuals and families with support services, using a coaching and capacity-building approach. You may provide these services directly, or you may facilitate and co-ordinate tenants’ access to services available on site and in the community.

Your role will be to establish effective relationships with a diverse range of tenants in your assigned region who may be fleeing abuse, at risk of homelessness, or facing medical or mental health challenges. Facilitating your clients’ success in their tenancies, and in their lives, will be the main focus of your role as you work with on-site and regional staff to problem-solve and create a “supportive community that cares.”

Services may include crisis intervention; conflict resolution; helping clients understand and meet their obligations as tenants; encouraging them to meet their own goals by making use of available social, recreational, health and educational programs; and co-coordinating tenant-initiated activities. Some of the challenges facing your clients may involve: cleanliness/hygiene, addictions, mental health issues, difficulty paying rent, tenant conflicts, or difficulty accessing or following through with available services.

Well-equipped to handle the functions of your role, you bring a relevant diploma or certificate and 3 years’ hands-on experience in supportive counseling and a practical knowledge of working with individuals or families dealing with multiple barriers to successful housing. Ideally, your qualifications also include certification as a Community Social Service Worker, Health Care Support Worker or Community Mental Health Worker. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Please Note:

  • Successful applicant(s) are subject to a satisfactory criminal record check
  • a valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
