A rewarding opportunity ensuring consumer protection for homebuyers
Apply your investigative talents and understanding of administrative law and legal processes to protecting the interests of BC’s homeowners. Working out of our Homeowner Protection Office (HPO), you’ll join forces with our compliance investigation team to ensure that BC’s residential builders adhere to the Homeowner Protection Act and its regulations.
You’ll be analyzing data for incidents of risk, working with government officials, warranty providers and other authorities to escalate matters that require further inquiry. You’ll administer de-enrollments and owner-builder authorizations; deal with licensed residential builders with outstanding new home inventory; compile information letters; and respond to tips. You’ll also assist Crown Counsel and HPO Counsel in legal proceedings, conducting research and providing written and oral testimony for quasi-criminal hearings. Providing project planning, coordination and reporting for special compliance projects rounds out your accountabilities.
You have a diploma in a relevant discipline (such as legal administration, law enforcement, criminology or business administration) or the equivalent in experience. Add to this at least 3 years’ directly related experience in a regulatory and compliance environment, in which you conducted file investigations, data research and data analysis as well as prepared documents for administrative and legal proceedings. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
