Functional Area:

5 KidSafe Sites: Queen Alexandra, Grandview, Nightingale, Thunderbird & Macdonald

Reports to:         

KidSafe Manager of Programming

Indirect Reports:

KidSafe Programmer


December 19-30, 2016 (closed weekends and December 26 & 27)


8 hrs/day for direct delivery during break session, plus time allotted for pre and post break meetings, planning and reporting.

Pay Rate:

$17.00 per hour



The role of the Engaged Outreach Coordinator is to work with the Manager of Programming, the walking school bus team and the driving school bus team to ensure that those children identified as having attendance challenges in school receive the Engaged Outreach Program throughout KidSafe.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Helping to organize referrals and ensuring all referred have properly filled in registration forms prior to program start.
  • Mapping routes and communicating with each Engaged Outreach team member (Drivers, Walking School Bus Support Staff, Bus Support Staff, Site Coordinators)
  • Communications  with  parents  and  school  liaisons  for  program  preparation  prior to session start and throughout the break.
  • Coordinate any training needed for support staff
  • Coordinate with partners regarding staffing and schedules
  • Monitoring program throughout break and supporting where necessary.
  • Providing activity support at various KidSafe sites
  • Ride the Engaged Outreach Bus in the morning and afternoon as needed
  • Reporting and evaluation.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Organized and willingness to work independently.
  • Enjoy working with children and have a high degree of energy.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • High degree of flexibility; an ability to adapt successfully to fast-changing situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with children and their families, educational personnel, staff and volunteers.
  • To be accepting of differences.
  • To be patient and able to work as a team member.
  • Current Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract an asset.
