The Nanaimo Community Hospice Society is seeking an enthusiastic, natural leader for the full time position of Executive Director.
The Society has a rich and long history of providing hospice palliative care in the mid Vancouver Island region. With compassion and dignity, our trained volunteers and professional staff offer many psychosocial support services to the terminally ill and their caregivers and families in their homes, at Hospice House and at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
The Society operates thrift stores as our social enterprise, engaging a committed group of volunteers. This revenue, along with donations from individuals and corporations, is critical to our financial sustainability.
Your university degree or combination of education and experience, preferably in the health or social services field, will have provided you with executive management skills. With a minimum of five years experience in an executive position, you have demonstrated human resource management, financial management and public relations skills. You are creative, compassionate and have a talent for strategic thinking and collaborative leadership. You have experience with fund raising and preparing grant applications. You have a sound knowledge of budgeting, financial management and legal issues specific to non-profit organizations and have technical competence. An understanding of hospice palliative care and local community resources will be an asset. You will be willing to work flexible hours in order to accommodate board meetings and other community functions.
