Wyndham House offers a wide range of programs and supports to at-risk and homeless youth, and is currently seeking relief and part time Youth Support Workers for the Youth Emergency Shelter and Long Term Residential homes.  Please consult www.wyndhamhouse.org for more information on the agency's approach and specific programs.

Youth Support Workers provide a structured, cooperative, and safe environment for youth, through respectful, supportive and cooperative interactions.  The position  includes supporting youth through basic daily living  routines, promoting the acquisition of life skills, fostering healthy relationships, problem solving and conflict resolution.   Shifts include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights.



  • Ensure the safety and security of all clients and property
  • Provide direct youth support and supervision
  • Assist the youth with skills development though a strengths based focus


Youth  Support Workers are responsible for:

  • ensuring a safe and cooperative environment is maintained
  • providing  referrals to community supports as requested
  • providing direct supervision of clients in accordance with agency standards and best practices
  • supporting clients with routine chores, laundry and personal hygiene
  • maintaining  all  physical aspects of the residential facility with respect to health and safety, in regards to cleaning and routine activities
  • ensuring all fire safety checks and house security checks are completed regularly and documented
  • documenting relevant information according to agency requirements
  • attending staff and agency meetings as required
  • supporting team growth and development 



Youth Support Workers require:

personal resilience, compassion and commitment

some post secondary education in a social-services related-field

experience working with youth and/or in a residential setting

knowledge of the barriers at-risk youth face

C.P.R. and First Aid

Criminal Reference Check (C.P.E.C.)

Crisis Intervention and/or A.S.I.S.T. training would be an advantage
