Community Schools Team Program Leader

Van Tech Community Schools Team – Vancouver, BC


Job Description:

An exciting opportunity to support vulnerable elementary and secondary students after school with the Vancouver Board of Education. Our large, urban and multicultural school district provides programs to over 50,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and over 2,000 adults in adult education programs. Serving our diverse district in 110 facility sites, our programs and services are designed to address both complex challenges and extraordinary opportunities.

You will be part of a team working to provide vulnerable children with after-school programming that includes a safe and structured environment, healthy physical activity, skill-building activities such as cooking and arts and crafts, and healthy snacks.

You report to and work closely with the Community Schools Programmer to ensure that the program is implemented in a physically and emotionally safe environment and aligns with the program goals. Your effective communication and organizational skills will assist the Community Schools Team to provide excellent service to students in the community.


Qualifications: Minimum 1 year experience working with children in a recreational setting

Demonstrated proficiency in delivery of children’s science, sports and/or arts programs Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities Current first aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and/or QUEST2 certification or willing to obtain


Hours: The job is approximately 4-8 hours per week, 2:30pm-5:30pm during the school year. Next term of programming starts mid-January. Commencement of employment is conditional upon a successful criminal records check. This position offers an hourly wage of $10.85 to $14.79 (+ 10.67% in lieu of benefits) depending on experience.
