  1. Provision of Services
    • Providing assistive technology instruction that is consistent with Board approved policies, procedures and philosophy.

1.2   Attending staff meetings and training as required.

1.3   Preparing information in large print, braille and other alternative formats.


  1. Records

2.1   Maintain written reports detailing consumer’s objectives, recommendations and progress.  Send all reports to the Provincial Programs Manager on a bi monthly basis.


  1. Confidentiality

3.1   Respecting confidentiality of the participants and consumers of Canadian Helen Keller Centre, in respect to any personal information shared.  This information may be shared with other individuals (if needed) for team sharing purposes only.


  1. Other

4.1   Other tasks as may be assigned by the Training & Seniors Coordinator, Administrative Coordinator, Executive Director and the Board of Directors.





  1. Completion of assigned tasks and/or projects by the assigned date.
  2. Keep Provincial Programs Manager informed with progress reports.





  1. General Qualification Requirements

1.1   Valid drivers’ license, car and insurance acceptable to Canadian Helen Keller Centre are preferred.

1.2   Vulnerable Sector Screening, required.

1.3 Provide Technology Instruction on an as needed basis; on site, or at a location as directed by Training Manager.



  1. Educational Requirements
    • A+ certification or comparable experience
    • Mac experience
    • Certification in Rehabilitation Teacher for Blind or Visually Impaired or comparable experience is an asset.
    • College course in American Sign Language, an asset.


  1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

3.1   Strong awareness and understanding of Deaf-Blindness.

3.2   Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.

3.4   Strong report writing abilities.

3.5   Knowledge and familiarity with various devices and strategies to assist those with vision loss.

3.6   Knowledge and familiarity with technological devices for those with low vision an asset.

3.7   Basic understanding of Orientation and Mobility.
