WE seeks a Manager, Major Gifts. This individual will work with the Associate Director to implement strategy, support donors through great engagement and stewardship, ultimately accountable to achieving donation targets for the major gift category.  As a natural relationship builder and organized team player, this role manages both client relationships and projects as assigned, reporting to the Associate Director of Major Gifts.
The success of WE Charity’s Major Gift team is measured (at both the departmental and organizational level) by:

  • the number of families engaged in the WE Movement (via trips, fundraising, camps, etc.),
  • the quality of relationships,
  • the strength of programming to build pipeline, and
  • achieving year end targets for Major Gifts.

The WE Charity Major Gifts team seeks a Manager who will continually strengthen these objectives and relationships, thinking and acting for the team, to get the job done, period.
This individual must be passionate and committed to the core beliefs of the organization—the WE.org Philosophy.
The position is based out of WE Charity’s office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street).
Your Impacts:
Support Director and Associate Director with both relationship management and project execution.
Stewardship and Special Projects

  • Steward the engagement of major donors, ensuring a compelling stakeholder experience and ongoing contributions to WE programming, both domestically and internationally
  • Fulfill our commitments to donors, seeing that all aspects are carried out, including preparing donor updates and reports
  • Responsible for calling clients and sending information via email in order to build the value of WE programming (including campaigns, family and youth trips, camps, etc.)
  • Provide support to third-party events and fundraisers hosted by stakeholders, including in-person attendance and public speaking
  • Ensure client satisfaction through responsiveness to inquiries, with prompt and effective problem-solving
  • Support in honoring donors and maintaining communications, including via organized mailings
  • Ability to execute on direction for special projects and events in support of the above

Recruitment & Special Projects

  • Receive and respond to new leads with the aim of initiating engagement
  • Proactively identify prospective donors, carry out background research, and devise an appropriate engagement plan
  • Develop relationships with families on the phone and in person, to meet individual and team financial targets
  • Attend and represent the organization at fundraising and networking events with the aim of identifying prospective donors
  • Ability to execute on direction for special projects and events in support of pipeline development

Record Keeping

  • Records all activities and steps of the engagement process utilizing our CRM system (Client Relationship Management) – Salesforce
  • Support Director and Associate Director in the tracking of prospects, opportunities, and financials
  • Liaise with Donor Services & Operations to ensure accuracy of financial reporting

What you bring:

  • High degree of flexibility; open to working evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Articulate, self-motivated, mature team player.
  • Previous fundraising, sales or customer service experience.  Friendly, determined self-starter with the ability to engage clients on the phone & in person.
  • Strong ability to seek new opportunities and think creatively.
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented department.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a proven ability to succeed with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Powerful work ethic, both as a team member, but also as a self-starter.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner at all levels; internal and external to the organization.
  • International travel experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or another CRM system is an asset.
  • Driver’s License an asset.
