Position Summary:

Reporting to IT Consultant, the incumbent will assist with building and expanding the Mon Sheong Foundation website.

 

Main Duties:

  • Design and develop web applications;
  • Test and make modifications to promote an user-friendly and robust web application;
  • Develop training / troubleshooting / reference materials that support product offering;
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure any new / existing web applications meet business requirements;
  • Assess the website for bugs and errors;
  • Create and brainstorm ideas for site layout and appearance;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a recognized University or College in Computer Science and related studies;
  • Experience with or knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CMS (Joomla and WordPress);
  • Experience with or knowledge of implementation of social API’s like Facebook, Twitter, etc.;
  • Knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 is a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated analytic, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese / Mandarin, both oral and written.

 

Other Requirements:

All summer student positions are funded to promote employment opportunities for students. The position and duration of it are based on funding approval. To be eligible for the program, job applicants should meet the following criteria:

 

  1. Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  2. Was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
  3. Intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
  4. Is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
  5. Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
