About Nidus:

The Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre and Registry is a non-profit, charitable organization serving the province of British Columbia and based in Vancouver. Nidus provides education and assistance to the public regarding BC’s legal planning tools, with particular emphasis on Representation Agreements. Nidus also operates a centralized, online Registry to securely store important information and documents and grant access to others who need to know. Learn more at www.nidus.ca


This position is a learning opportunity for a student interested in social policy and social change, putting legislation into practice, and developing education for adults from 19 to 119 and for a variety of life situations.


Job Description:

  • Provide demonstrations of the Personal Planning Registry; assist people with setting up an online account and initial registrations and updates (by phone, in-person and online meetings);
  • Works with seniors centres and community groups to promote personal planning and the Registry;
  • Help plan education events for Personal Planning Month in October and in recognition of Canada’s anniversary;
  • Assist with the updating for Representation Agreement form templates, development of educational materials, proofread newsletters and other communications as needed;
  • Perform administrative tasks.


  • Post-secondary student;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good social skills—able to work in a team and office environment;
  • Independent and comfortable meeting/approaching new people;
  • Must be detail-oriented – able to follow directions and execute tasks accurately;
  • Must have solid knowledge of PC computers for accessing the Internet and using programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Also experience and familiarity with social media.

Eligibility Criteria – the grant requires applicants meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the following academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
