Reports to: Data Mobilization Manager

The SPC Sudbury works in partnership with individuals, community agencies, government, business, and the health and educational sectors to improve quality of life for all residents of Greater Sudbury. Job Summary:

The Data Analyst Assistant position will provide a student with practical experience in the field of statistical data analysis. The student will be given the opportunity to use their knowledge and understanding of statistical data analysis to support various organizational projects and initiatives. They will be working with project team members to create statistical packages and profiles surrounding social issues such as homelessness, children’s outcomes, income, poverty, labour markets and other social trends. The student will learn to work collaboratively with project teams and their leads. He/she will become familiar in navigating a number of database systems such as Statistics Canada and the Community Data Program via the Sudbury Consortium.


Job Duties:

  • Follow data execution project plans and timing;
  • Practice documenting their processes and procedures;
  • Enter, analyze and interpret data of varying degrees of complexity for various social issues
  • Research and develop new reporting methods;
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including social researchers, planners and a diverse set of cross-sectoral partners. i.e. Sudbury Consortium, Community Data Program members to help solve complex social problems.

Studies (Must be returning to school in September):  Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Economics, or other quantitative fields.

 

Qualifications: Experience in exploring and analyzing data sets. Computer programming would be considered an asset.  Ability to build stories and narratives out of data as well as a basic understanding of social research.
