The Welcome Centre is a non-profit organization that initiates, organizes and launches programs, services and events for newcomers, immigrants and refugees in order to ease their settlement and blending in with the Canadian Society.


About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Welcome Centre Manager, the Workshop Development Officer will organize and create skills workshops, orientation sessions for newly arrived Syrian Refugees, immigrants and newcomers.


As a Workshop Development Officer, you will:


- Develop and create skills workshops that are relevant for newly arrived refugees;
- Facilitate skills workshop in absence of trained volunteers;
- Demonstrate flexibility as teaching conditions may change over time;
- Brief the Welcome Centre Manager on the progress of the skills workshops on a daily basis;
- Act as an ambassador when engaging with key stakeholders (internal and external) in the work and results of the Welcome Centre initiatives;
- Participate in meetings with staff of the Welcome Centre

You may be required to work extended hours, evenings and weekends.


Basic requirements of the position


- Must be entering 1st year of post-secondary in September 2016

- Relevant experience is an asset but not required

Language Requirements
Fluency in English is required
Fluency in Arabic is preferred but not required.
