CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM - 7 weeks full time, 30 hrs per week contract.

An exciting, perfect summer job opportunity for someone who is into communications, marketing, and social media. You must have a knack for presentation, be comfortable with words, and understand the importance of good design. Do you have the left stroke to go viral? Did that line make you cringe, but you liked it anyway? Then we want to hear from you.


Communications & Media Coordinator (1 position)

Pay: $12/hr

Employment Period: 30 hrs per week for 7 weeks (flexible schedule)

Location: Toronto, ON

Anticipated start date: June 26, 2017

Job overview

  1. Create a successful strategy for youth engagement and volunteers management in collaboration with team members
  2. Design shared communication and project/events related media tools: posters, flyers, promotional t-shirts or gifts, chat room and public info or orientation session meeting guidelines; evaluation and survey forms, etc.
  3. Post flyers and posters on  summer events and youth meetings (volunteer, planning, networking conference event) on social media: Eventbrite, Facebook, Instagram, TILT and other news outlets (Now Magazine, SNAPD Bloor West Paper, Parkdale Villager etc.,)
  4. Design a clear, interactive, and fun presentation on: TYPS project goals, network interactive websites/apps; DreBu ACT YES youth health advocacy projects, usage and outcome goals of TYPS website
  5. Update and manage TYPS project website, apps, all DreBu social media channels, monitor analytics, and DreBu survey forms to help track TYPS membership growth, member interactions, information exchange, feedback and outcomes
  6. Work as a team with the other summer staff members in organizing the main summer TYPS (Himalayan Youth Networking Event), ACT YES health project events and other DreBu summer community events
  7. Attend the necessary orientation (job- and community-related) and trainings, including the Health and Safety, and Risk Management, staff/board meetings, and regular check in meetings with the supervisor
  8. Complete the bi-weekly employability skills evaluation to help measure the job tasks outcomes and personal skills development




TO QUALIFY, you must answer YES to the first two questions:


  1. Are you a convention refugee or a permanent resident or a citizen of Canada. Are you between 15 to 29 years old. Note: Answer must be YES to qualify.
  2. Have you been a full-time student for the past school year and are you intending to return to school as a full-time student in September? Note: Answer must be YES to both questions to qualify.
  3. Do you consider yourself a person of a diverse background (ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender, etc.) and/or of Indigenous background? If yes, please let us know in your cover letter. (Optional)
