Volunteer and Youth Engagement Coordinator (2 positions)

Pay: $12/hr

Employment Period: 30 hrs per week for 7 weeks (flexible schedule)

Location: Toronto, ON

Anticipated start date: June 26, 2017

Job overview

  1. Create a successful strategy for youth engagement and volunteers management in collaboration with team members
  2. Coordinate in-person and virtual info sessions with youth ages 15 to 29 on the different TYPS projects, community initiatives, and youth training resources
  3. Recruit and manage active group of volunteers (youth ages 15 to 29) for the annual summer TYPS Himalayan Networking Conference and other DreBu projects and events
  4. Plan and facilitate volunteers meetings, outreach and evaluation sessions;
  5. Provide support and mentorship to youth team leaders
  6. Communicate effectively with the staff team mates, volunteers, youth communities, prospective attendees of events, both in person and via the established social media channels  - facebook , linkedIn, TYPS member app, EventBrite and others
  7. Maintain accurate records of work hours and outputs; volunteers forms; youth member engagement process and outcomes; research and information pertaining to youth and community meetings, outreach sessions; and other work inputs and outputs
  8. Attend the necessary orientation (job- and community-related) and trainings, including the Health and Safety, and Risk Management, staff/board meetings, and regular check in meetings with the supervisor
  9. Complete the bi-weekly employability skills evaluation to help measure the job tasks outcomes and personal skills development

TO QUALIFY, you must answer YES to the first two questions:

  1. Are you a convention refugee, permanent resident or a citizen of Canada. Are you between 15 to 29 years old. Note: Answer must be YES to qualify.
  2. Have you been a full-time student for the past school year and are you intending to return to school as a full-time student in September? Note: Answer must be YES to both questions to qualify.
  3. Do you consider yourself a person of a diverse background (ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender, etc.) and/or of Indigenous background? If so, please let us know in your cover letter. (Optional)
