is looking for a




Contract: Part-time, 12-month contract position (with option to renew), approximately 30 hours per month

About the OYOA: Founded in 1982, the Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy (OYOA) is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide youth in the Ottawa region with a continuum of high-quality orchestral and ensemble training and performance opportunities at an affordable cost in a supportive musical environment. About the Position: The OYOA seeks to engage a part-time contractor to provide communications support for academy activities. This includes: promotion campaigns, maintaining website content, maintaining the OYOA digital photographic library, posting regular social media (Facebook) content, writing newsletters, coordinating the construction of programs and posters for concerts, coordinating physical media creation such as concert tickets and passes, maintaining a digital archive of all communications media produced, and assisting the Executive Director with maintenance of a database of members, donors, and community contacts. In many cases, volunteers will assist with these tasks.



  • University or College Diploma, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years related communications experience preferably in the arts
  • Strong Communication skills in English and French (oral and written)
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and with Facebook
  • Capable to work independently as well as collaboratively with volunteers
  • Must be able to work from a virtual office with your own computer and internet
  • Experience with digital and printed media layout and design would be an asset
  • Experience with WordPress, Eventbrite and basic databases would be assets


This position requires:

  • Strong people skills and the ability to adapt and work with others, including volunteers, the local music community, donors, members, and alumni.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A flexible work schedule.
  • A police record check.
