Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC is currently hiring Activity Leaders to work with children and youth at the following locations: Hillside (North Delta), and Wintemute (Ladner). Opportunities may also be available at our other sites across the region.


Preference will be given to candidates who have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.  For the summer months, a portion of our positions are funded through Service Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs Program. 


START DATE:  June 2017


Summary of Responsibilities


The Activity Leaders at Boys and Girls Clubs sites will be charged with the responsibility of delivering quality educational, social recreational programs for children and youth 6-18 years of age. The Activity Leader’s role is to provide supervision, role modeling, and assist in the development of dynamic programming that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of Club members.  All programs must be designed and led in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner. 



  • Plans, prepares, and leads programs that promote individual skill development and teamwork.
  • Uses behavior management techniques outlined in the training sessions.
  • Gets to know each Club member individually and treats them with respect and care.
  • Plans and delivers special events.
  • Ensures the proper care and use of all program equipment and facilities.
  • Communicates professionally with parents.
  • Works with other staff and volunteers in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner.
  • Assists with the evaluation of programs.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Participates fully in all training programs


  • Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  • Boys and Girls Clubs work with children, youth and families from a wide variety of backgrounds and encourage applications from candidates who reflect this diversity
  • Must have been registered as a full-time student in a Canadian institution the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Be between the ages of 15-30
  • Previous experience working with 6-18 year olds in a social-recreational program
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, flexible attitude and an ability to work as a team player
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certification
  • Second language is an asset
  • Class 4 Driver’s License and Lifeguard Certification would be additional assets
  • All successful candidates will be required to complete approximately 40 hours of staff training.
