Office & Donations Assistant, White Rock Administration Office


35 hours per week for 9 weeks (Flexibility required, availability on some weekends and evenings)

An exciting opportunity exists for an Office & Donations Assistant for The White Rock Administration Office at Atira Women's Resource Society. Atira offers a challenging and rewarding work environment for women passionate about ending violence against women and children. Understanding the dynamics of violence against women and children and the intersectionality of oppressions within a feminist framework and being able to apply this understanding in your day-to-day practice is mandatory.


This position is a temporary summer student position, funded by HRSDC and certain conditions must be met.  The successful candidate must be registered as a full-time student and planning to return to school full-time in September 2017 and be between the age of 15 and 30. The successful applicant must also be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and, be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. Must adhere to a feminist analysis of violence against women and have a commitment to/understanding of anti-oppression work and the intersectionality of oppressions. Must have a well-developed analysis of the impact/legacy of colonization and assimilation and the resulting impact on First Nations, Metis and Inuit women. This position will help facilitate the provision of services and necessities (clothing, food, appliances, toys, diapers, baby supplies etc.) to women and children accessing Atira programs in White Rock and Surrey who have experienced violence, exploitation, discrimination and other barriers to accessing services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Soliciting, accepting, sorting and distributing donations
  • Volunteering at events
  • Assisting with data entry and filing
  • Undertaking research for prospective funders
  • Performs other related duties as required


Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Above average computer skills
  • Passion for Fundraising
  • Must be organized and methodical
  • Ability to organize work and carry out duties with independence
  • Ability to work under pressure/meet deadlines
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
  • Time management skills



Preference will be given to a student pursuing an education in Non-Profit Management, Community Development, Social Justice, Communications, Women’s Studies, and other relevant disciplines.

Additional Requisites:
