POSITION DESCRIPTION

Are you on the hunt for a new and dynamic challenge? Are you passionate about education and eager to be involved in an organization committed to innovation and transforming not-for-profit sector leadership? We are looking for a client-focused business development person for a one-year contract.

Vantage Point is a Vancouver-based not-for-profit and we deliver foundational, advanced and custom learning opportunities focused on governance, leadership, planning and people engagement for new and seasoned sector leaders, board directors and managers. Our mission is to transform not-for-profit leadership, and focusing on strengths and opportunities, we’re lifting the capacity of our clients.

The Capacity Development Lead is responsible for building relationships with not-for-profit organizations to determine the most impactful Vantage Point service for their requirements, either onsite training or custom training sessions, strategic planning, consulting and advisory services, or advanced professional development labs.  Additionally, you will identify new leads and sales strategies to grow Vantage Point’s current customer and investor base.

Consulting Manager

Terms:

Contract full-time (35 hours per week); August 2017 - July 2018

Compensation:

$45,000 - $47,500 dependent on experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish, develop and maintain positive client relationships in the not-for-profit sector
  • Identify potential new clients through proactive research and relationship building
  • Achieve agreed upon custom and advanced lab sales targets and outcomes within timelines
  • Proactively present, promote, and offer Vantage Point services through understanding of new and existing client’s unique requirements
  • Lead project scoping meetings with not-for-profit customer executives (e.g., senior staff and/or board leadership) and provide outcome details to relevant team members
  • Maintain a lead/prospect database by consistently updating relevant client data
  • Write and submit proposals to earn business
  • Document relevant delivery details for onsite and custom training sessions and share with relevant team members
  • Liaise with City of Vancouver granting divisions regarding bursary applicants
  • Ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded in terms of quality of product and service delivered
  • Identify up-selling opportunities and direct to appropriate team members 

To excel in the Capacity Development Lead Role:

  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in a business development role (fund or sales) with a clear understanding of solution selling
  • Experience with proposal writing for business
  • Experience with the not-for-profit environment, as employee/consultant or volunteer
  • Strong relationship-building skills and active listening skills
  • Ability to identify a customer’s priorities and determine the service that is most appropriate given their requirements
  • Comfort operating confidently in ambiguous situations (e.g. sales calls, scoping, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn training products quickly and relay product benefits effectively
  • Well-organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Aptitude for technology, including Salesforce CRM, Mailchimp and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Personal commitment to ongoing learning and delivering work with excellence.
