A non-profit social housing organization in East Vancouver, is seeking a non-resident Building Manager.

Your new company
A non-profit social housing organization located in East Vancouver, is seeking a non-resident Building Manager for a temporary to permanent position. This position entails working with the Aboriginal community, seniors, youth, women at risk, persons living with mental illness and other vulnerable populations.

Your new role
In your new position as non-resident Building Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring the general well being of residents, dealing with daily property management and administration as well as ensuring the building is a respectful and supportive place in which to reside, visit and work.

You will be responsible for:

  • Respond to tenant request and emergencies
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Maintain daily administration, written journal and provide building condition reports
  • Variety of cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping washing windows and polishing surfaces
  • Maintain the exterior of the building and surrounding property clean and free of debris
  • Seasonal tasks such as landscaping, filter changes and snow removal
  • General repairs - leaky taps, bi-fold installations, replace and/or repair plugged toilets, drains etc.
  • Carry out suite inspections – move-in move-out, annual condition, etc.
  • Perform monthly fire safety tests
  • Ensure daytime security
 
What you'll need to succeed
As a successful candidate, you must have the following:
  • First Aid Certification
  • Solid background in janitorial work
  • Knowledge and experience in basic carpentry, plumbing, drywall repairs, painting, electrical, etc.
  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Team player
  • Fluency in English both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal Community and/or Aboriginal Ancestry is an asset
  • Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act
  • WHIMIS
