Pacific Community Resources Society requires a regular full-time experienced inspirational leader to support a large team of residential addiction workers in a remote youth and young adult addictions treatment centre in Keremeos.

 

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to provide vision and leadership and understand the levels of detail required working within a multi-disciplinary team and within a live-in care facility.   We require an experienced leader who has a multitude of experience and skills in the following areas:  leadership of a diverse team, community development; networking with government and community services; personnel management; financial management; fund development; supervision and consultation to an operational team, ability to co-lead with the Counselling Team Leader; passion to work with at-risk, marginalized youth and young adults, parents and professionals, advisory groups and diverse populations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, be engaged in daily hands-on collaborative efforts within a team oriented, person-centered, strengths based, harm reduction, recovery focused and hope inspiring model. 

 

This position requires a sound understanding of addictions, mental health, and trauma informed practices. In addition, the successful candidate will show expertise in staff and program leadership, specifically for a 24/7 staffing model that assures participant and staff safety and balance at Ashnola. The level of knowledge will also include training, team building, supervision, and scheduling.  The successful applicant will also need to cover rotating line shifts for vacation, sick and other times staff are away.   

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

    1) Leadership: (in coordination with the Clinical Team Leader and the Manager)

  • Responsible for ensuring a trauma informed environment
  • Responsible for supporting the operational direction of the program
  • Hiring and coordinating the orientation for new staff
  • Provide supervision and training to the residential addiction workers
  • Assists staff in understanding applicable Act/Regulations, policies, procedures and roles of the various Ministries.
  • Coordinates supervision meetings and assesses program performance in meeting contract outcomes.
  • Assists with personnel problems and addresses service delivery issues.
  • Delegates appropriate responsibilities and tasks to staff and provide the necessary training.
  • Provides leadership in identifying problems and problem resolution.
  • Provides leadership in program evaluation and development.
  • Leadership in on call crisis intervention (after hours attendance on evenings and weekends as required)

 

2) Scheduling and Organizing Programming:

  • Works with centre leadership and staff to continue to develop cohesive programming for participants
  • Helps organize scheduling for recreation, consultations, community outings
  • Problem solves programming and scheduling to meet needs of staff availability

 

3) Relationships with Participants and Fellow Staff:

  • Maintains professional working relationships with all staff
  • Seeks out rapport building with all participants on an ongoing basis
  • Monitors and assists with any problematic relationship concerns between participants or staff.
  • Helps run groups using evidenced-based interventions from a strengths-based approach.

 

4) Program Administration:

  • Works with the Manager and Clinical Team Leader for financial planning, management and outcome monitoring.
  • Responsible for on-site medication control and training of staff
  • Responsible for responding to complaints and addressing concerns through identified complaint procedures.
  • Represents the Agency as delegated.
  • Understands and applies the Agency’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists the Ashnola Leadership team in the administration tasks of the Agency as delegated.

 

5) Team Work:

  • Develops and fosters a strong positive team environment that enhances employee motivation and engagement.
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

 

Academic and Job Experience Required:

BA or equivalent plus Five (5) years of experience in a senior leadership position or equivalent education and experience within an addictions residential treatment centre.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal Records Check including the vulnerable sector
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Tuberculosis and Medical Clearance
  • Class 5 driver’s license preferred with Business Use Insurance and $3 Million Liability
  • Use of own vehicle required. Paid mileage.
  • Driver’s Abstract

  • Possess excellent time management skills; ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities.
