Full Time Contract Position (September 4, 2017 to December 31, 2017)

(with the possibility of an extension)

The Co-Responder Crisis Worker, as part of a team serving York Region, is responsible for the provision of community support to adults, and the family members of individuals who may be experiencing a crisis situation. Working in partnership with York Regional Police and York Region EMS services, the Co-Responder Crisis Worker is responsible for providing crisis assessment, intervention and stabilization to individuals who have serious mental health and/or addiction concerns and as necessary link individuals to appropriate ongoing mental health & addiction services.



  • B.S.W. or equivalent education
  • Minimum three years related experience
  • Knowledge and practice of short-term urgent response, psychosocial rehabilitation approach and advanced clinical, crisis and assessment skills are essential.
  • Experience working with individuals having a serious mental illness & addiction is essential.
  • Crisis intervention skills for adults experiencing a mental health crisis are desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system is an asset
  • A second language is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the local service system is essential


  • A valid G driver’s license, business use insurance, and reliable vehicle are required for this position.
