St. Joseph’s Hospice is a charitable organization providing residential and community compassionate care and companionship to palliative clients, their caregivers, and the bereaved while recognizing and embracing their individual needs. The London community has been privileged to have an organization that delivers specialized services to individuals and families with compassion, hope, and respect.


Reporting to the CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospice, the Director of Community Engagement & Development brings a depth of experience through a full scope of fundraising, from strategy development to identification, and cultivation through to solicitation and stewardship. The Director provides strategic vision and leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive community engagement and development program that includes all fundraising, marketing, and communications activities for Hospice.


The successful candidate will continue to foster a culture of philanthropy and lead a team of professional staff in the following high-functioning areas: Major Gifts, Annual Giving, Special Events, Donor Relations, Marketing, and Communications. This strategic leader will be results-driven with the ability to handle multiple projects at once, be a forward-thinking problem-solver, and have the ability to function in a rapidly evolving work and market environment.


Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years leadership in a community engagement and development role
  • University degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related program
  • Proven track-record in opening doors in order to build relationships and partnerships internally and externally
  • Previous experience leading and developing a team with a strategic and visionary approach
  • Proven experience in designing and managing fund development programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
