The Mustard Seed provides basic services - food, clothing and housing, and support services – education and employment, to those living in poverty within Alberta.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Community Programs Manager, the Employment Program Coordinator is responsible for the Old Strathcona Clean (OSC) program and its participants. This position will provide mentorship, leadership and assist in creating an environment that is committed to developing a program that promotes growth and transformation for the participants as well as provides a healthy, supportive work place for all members of the program.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide, facilitate, and assist in the development of the OSC program according to the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Operate OSC in a fiscally responsible manner through budget management
  • Give leadership to the participants, staff and volunteers
  • Responsible for the administration of the OSC program
  • Build and nurture relationships with external partners and stakeholders
  • To ensure that OSC’s contractual obligations are being fulfilled
  • Ensure all equipment needed for the program is good working order 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A demonstrated understanding of the issues contributing to poverty
  • Minimum of one year related experience working with individuals facing mental health, addictions, chronic illness, homelessness, poverty and related challenges. Equivalent experience will be considered
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma or experience in human services field with a background in social work, counselling, or addictions is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, applied time management, strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly motivated, compassionate, creative and responsible person
  • First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office  

OTHER INFORMATION

 

  • PT, hourly position , 15 hours per week
  • Considerable periods of standing, walking, indoors and outdoors
  • Moderate physical and mental effort
  • Driver’s Abstract and Employment Security Check is required
  • As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to be in agreement and to sign our statement of faith
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

 

Start date: Immediate
