Web Operations Specialist

Job Summary

The Web Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day usability, functionality and maintenance of the Alzheimer Society Federation’s web portal (www.alzheimer.ca), sub-sites and intranet using current web technologies and best practices while ensuring the Society's brand standards are met. In addition, the Web Operations Specialist responds to user needs, troubleshoots issues as they emerge, and monitors, analyzes and reports on web usage and trends. This position also works closely with the Marketing and Communications team, technical vendors and other stakeholders to develop technical and digital design work to support initiatives and/or projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Web Portal Support

  • Assists the Digital Solutions /Marketing & Communications teams in supporting a dynamic, up-to-date portal through the web content management system (CMS).
  • Updates the Society’s national website on an ongoing basis, including: content updates, developing new template designs, implementing graphic designs, content pages, CSS changes and content types (from code) into the CMS.
  • Works with third-party developers to implement CMS code changes, including (if applicable) adding, deleting, and refining new features, template changes, graphic designs, content types and CSS updates.
  • Monitors site usage and uses Google Analytics and other web measurement tools to identify, analyze and report on trends and issues.
  • Monitors and optimizes Google AdWords.
  • Performs pre-launch testing with team members and/or third-party developers to identify and/or address issues. 
  • Audits the national website and Federation sub-sites on the portal, or planning to migrate to the portal, to ensure brand compliance and web best practices.
  • Develops new or modifies existing graphic designs using current design software such as Adobe Suite.

 

Intranet Support

  • Assists the Digital Solutions/Marketing & Communications team in maintaining a dynamic, up-to-date intranet to meet Federation user needs.
  • May assist with the posting, editing and updating of national content and assist the Web Editor as needed.
  • Revises intranet design and content, coordinates regular reviews of content and through user feedback.
  • Administers the password system and updates special permissions
  • Responds to users’ technical inquiries.

 

Marketing support

  • Tracks information to support marketing and communications team, including metrics, dashboard and KPI reports, as well as third-party and special events.
  • Assists with responding to various external requests for information or materials.
  • Offers administrative support to Chief Marketing & Communications Officer as required.

 

Health & Safety

  • Complies with health & safety-related roles and responsibilities as specified in the Occupational Health & Safety Act

 

 

Job Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or college degree in a related diploma program of study (e.g.: Digital Marketing, Web Design)

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience with web content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, SiteCore, Joomla), editing applications and HTML, CSS, php, MySQL, at a level sufficient to make changes or edits to existing site content and adapt previously approved materials to a new campaign or updated page.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a digital marketing, web developer and designer, or digital role
  • Design experience (examples to be provided during interview) using current design applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, etc.)
  • Sitecore and Sharepoint experience is not required, but would be an asset. Training will be provided.
  • Solid knowledge of web hosting environments and server infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM systems
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends and applies them into operations and activities

 

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Excellent communications skills with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to foster constructive, respectful working relationships with  multiple organizational and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to handle and deliver concurrent tasks on time
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft suite 
  • Working experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other design application
  • Working experience with the Google 360 Suite, specifically Analytics, Adwords, Webmaster Tools, Tag Manager
  • Takes initiative, is self-motivated, and works well independently and in a team
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
  • Exercises discretion, judgment and tact in addressing sensitive or confidential information or situations.
