This is an exciting career opportunity for the role of Executive Director at Meighan Health Center, a not for profit, faith based continuum of care, providing a high standard of holistic person-centered health care services to the residents of a 168 long-term care home and 80 suites retirement residence. This is a senior position for a candidate with must have 5 years long term care senior operational leadership experience at the highest level as an executive director ao assistant executive director

Successful candidates will have proven and successful experience in senior operational executive and spiritual leadership based in long-term care operations and retirement regulations. Bringing strong experience with resource development and relationship management including with boards and funders and enabling them to inspire and motivate the Development team and others throughout the organization. In doing so, the Executive Director, The Meighan Health Center will be a passionate, strong leader and communicator with a strategic ability enabling them to develop strategies and action plans to promote long-term program development and direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management through overseeing and enhancing the day-to-day operations and activities.
  • Ensure that the core mission, vision, values and service philosophy are articulated and pervasive within the culture of the facility.
  • Provide Spiritual leadership and direction as required

Manage professional healthcare staff including Physicians and unionised RNs RPNS and PSWs

  • Liaise with The City of Toronto, LHIN and other long term groups
  • Build relationships in the local community through education and events
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of the long-range strategic plan in conjunction with senior managers and the various Boards (Board of Directors, Divisional Executive Board, and Divisional Finance Board).
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the various Boards and major

Liaise with Public. Legal clients and other stakeholders by responding to matters related to the ministry unit.

  • Build positive working relationships with the other long-term care facilities within the organization.

Establish and maintain productive relationships with other community

based organisations, The City of Toronto and various government agencies

  • Develop in conjunction with the Boards and Senior Managers, policies and objectives to achieve the mission and goals.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, legalities and establish best practices.
  • Establish, maintain and adhere to the budget in compliance with operating and administrative guidelines; authorize and monitor all financial transactions.
  • Provide direction, advice and guidance for management team on business and program matters to ensure program excellence through program and outcome evaluation, external consultation, continuous quality improvement and standards of ethical practice to ensure a high standard of holistic resident centered health care service to the residents
  • Grow, develop and coach the management team and inspire these leaders to do the same for their direct reports.
  • Identify and implement effective practices for risk management to ensure workplace safety for clients and staff, minimize liability and uphold reputation.
  • Ensure ministry unit staff is trained in and are in compliance with best practices and customizing policies and processes.
  • Oversee property transactions, development and inventory to ensure that the property is inspected and maintained in compliance with licensing standards, inclusive of buildings, grounds, equipment, furnishings. Assessing capital needs.

Key Core Competencies

  • Leadership in a senior management capacity, demonstrated in a not for profit long term care organization preferred
  • Leadership in a unionized environment

A track record of superior performance, exceptional judgment and communication skills

Must be familiar with local CCACs and their role in managing the availability of LTC beds and allotting needy individuals to the LTC providers and understanding the admission criteria and eligibility for admission

  • Possess a genuine passion, commitment and dedication to the Mission, Vision and Values
  • Proven leader, team builder and a team player
  • Experience working with Board of Directors
  • Demonstrated success in fund raising
  • Business management skills in finance and human resources
  • Experience with the negotiation of services contracts
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Medical Director and attending Physicians in long-term care

Background and Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Health Administration or Social Services.
  • A progression of Senior Management not for profit long term care (min 5 years)
  • Administrator certification valid in Ontario is mandatory.
  • Experience managing a strong unionised environment.
  • Visionary and innovative enthusiasm and a bias for action.
  • A sound judgement empathy and integrity.
  • A hands on collaborative leadership style.
  • A confident leader and motivator of professionals.

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: $140,000.00 /year
