Responsible as a group work leader, provides direction and checking results.


Recruitment, orientation and performance management of all Kettle Volunteers

Coordinate the schedule for kettle staff (computerized) and respond to emergency absences.

Keep accurate records of volunteer information, contact previous volunteers, churches, service clubs, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles: outreach and recruitment within high schools to attract students needing community service hours.

Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites volunteers and address issues/conflicts as they arise.

Ensure kettle stand/equipment is placed at the pre-arranged locations on time.

Ensure kettle locations are kept well stocked with supplies and handouts.

Coordinate with Community and Family Services Coordinator for dropping off and picking up of kettles.

Deliver and pick-up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.

Access online kettle system and meet with the Community and Family Services Coordinator daily to monitor the progress of donations and to strategize.

Organize for the volunteers, drop off and pick up of kettles for special events.

Implement recommendations from the final report/ meeting following the previous kettle campaign.

Upon completion of the campaign, retrieve all equipment from various kettle locations in a timely manner; prepare an overall report on the campaign for submission to the Community and Family Services Coordinator.  (Include the following: a computerized list of all individual and group volunteers, including total hours contributed, contact information and full information for students that require letters for community service hours.)

Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner at all times while at work.

Perform other position related duties as required.



Completed High School or equivalent

Prior related experience would be a definite asset

Experience in office administration

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting

Experience with general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications

Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance, a copy of current driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Provide an original copy of a Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada. 

NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered


This is a temporary seasonal position based on 15 hours per week for the period of October 2, 2017 to November 13, 2017.  Effective November 13, 2017 this temporary seasonal position will be based on 44 hours per week for the balance of the contract.


Shifts will include days, afternoons, and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday, flexibility in scheduling is required.


Start Date:  October 02, 2017           End Date:  January 02, 2018
