Since 1928, Family Services of Greater Vancouver has been creating brighter tomorrows for people and families in our community.  Last year we supported more than 13,000 people to create possibilities for themselves through professional counselling, therapy, education, advocacy, planning, employment support, and other community services. 


The PRIYD program is a community access program focusing on functional life skills and community integration for special needs children and youth living in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, and Vancouver. A support for children and youth with mental, physical and behavioural challenges, the goals of the program are to increase each person’s independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups.


Position Profile/Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Regional Service Coordinator, as a community-based Integration Support Worker you will provide service to families in Richmond such as:

  • Provide one to one and group support to children and youth with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Formulate goals, action plans and strategies together with your clients and their caregivers
  • Through community based recreational activities, support your clients, using coaching, modeling and emotional support, to develop life skills, age and ability-appropriate independence and integration in the community
  • As a resource, advocate, role-model and community liaison, connect with social workers, behaviour consultants, educational staff and families as part of an integrated team
  • Your commitment to meaningful documentation and progress reports will ensure continuity of care for your vulnerable clients

Job Specific Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of child development
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children and youth with behavioural challenges, and their families
  • Ability to maintain a client’s safety in the community


Education / Experience

  • Two years of post secondary education or training in child/youth care or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with behavioural challenges


Other Requirements

  • Criminal record check is a condition of employment
  • Standard First Aid certificate, or concurrent training
  • Driver’s License and vehicle with business insurance

Work Hours:  Tuesday to Saturday position: Tues-Fri 11:30am-7:30pm, and Sat 9am-5pm. Full-time, based on 35 hours per week.

Salary/Pay Grade:  $1,498.22 bi-weekly ($38,952 annual) GS 7, Step 1

Location: Richmond
