Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year. 

 

As the Director of our People Services department, a typical day might include:

  • Providing directional leadership and working collaboratively with all staff to address emerging needs of the employees, students and volunteers while ensuring alignment with overall agency outcomes. 
  • Providing advice, counsel and support on Human Resources issues and helping our people to develop their people.
  • Solicit feedback from our people through engagement tools, focus groups and stay/exit interviews.  Provide recommendations and support to the Executive team as we strive to be Calgary’s best place to work. 
  • Rolling up your sleeves and helping your team to manage the demanding workflow of the department while supporting them to identify more efficient processes and systems.
  • Chairing and facilitating the Health, Safety and Wellness and Workforce Council Committees; provide recommendations to the Executive team, implementing and monitoring all Committee action plans.
  • Look for emerging trends and issues in the broader Human Resources field and providing recommendations to Executive team about how we will address areas that will impact on our organization.
  • Identifying training areas that will enhance the development of our people and with the support of your team and the Leadership team, facilitate learning opportunities that develop the skills of our workforce.
  • Working towards goals identified in agency strategic plan and actively participating in the creation of a business plan and strategic priorities.
  • Managing the overall strategy and implementation of recognition events and initiatives.  
  • Ensuring the department is in compliance with all regulatory bodies and monitoring service standards for department to ensure exceptional support to the people in the organization.

You Have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • A current CHRP Designation that you will be required to keep in good standing.
  • 5+ years in a Human Resources Generalist role including a background in payroll, compensation, benefits and employee relations.
  • Experience in human services, non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Able to adapt department priorities based on emerging needs and a customer-centric philosophy.
  • Effective skills to interact with all levels of an organization, from the Executive team to frontline staff. 
  • A professional attitude and the ability to connect effectively with your team.
