Position Overview:

The Vancouver School Board’s Windermere Community Schools Team is currently seeking a part-time Cooking Program Leader to support vulnerable elementary and secondary students during out of school time (OST) in schools located in Renfrew-Collingwood. Our large, urban and multicultural school district provides programs to over 50,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and over 2,000 adults in adult education programs. Serving our diverse district in 110 facility sites, our programs and services are designed to address both complex challenges and extraordinary opportunities.



  • Assist in the planning and delivery of after school cooking programs for children aged 6-12. Support the work of, and collaborate with, the CST Coordinator, Programmers and other Program Leaders to ensure smooth implementation and operations
  • Plan for, and prepare program supplies in accordance with a budget determined with your supervisor and ensure supplies are available for student leaders for their weekly programs
  • Supervise and mentor Youth Leaders and children registered in out of school time programs
  • Provide on-site supervision ensuring programming is operating at the highest standard of quality (i.e., all safety protocols are adhered to, programs are engaging and inclusive, program goals are met, etc)
  • Participate in the following (1 x per term):  creation and distribution of program brochures, in- school promotions, and in-school registrations
  • Assist with tasks such as photocopying, and updating of school bulletin boards
  • Assist organizing the year end volunteer appreciation event, working with other CST staff and community service providers


-Basic cooking skills and a passion for food systems, nutrition education, and programming;

-Strong organizational and group leadership skills;

-Demonstrated ability to problem solve and multitask;

-Experience working with school-aged children and high school students;

-Positive attitude and strong understanding and background in youth engagement programming;

-Food Safe certification or willingness to obtain; and

-First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
