The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a  Community Partnership Project Officer Reporting directly to the Manager Community Partnerships Program, the Project Officer, will ensure the program meets the planned objectives in a way that maximizes benefit for the affected communities, delivers support that promotes efficiency and effectiveness and ensures internal procedures are in accordance with established protocols and practices for the processing of Community Partnerships Applications received as a component of the Community Partnerships Program.
  • Reviews applications, budgets, work plans, screening documents, checklists, decision papers, memos to ensure information is complete, consistent and fulfills the criteria defined in the Community Organization Partnerships Guidelines & selection criteria.
  • Writes decision papers, project summaries, decline recommendations and other documents as required
  • Supports linkages between the British Columbia Community Partnerships team and the National Office Programs team with regards to implementation and progress of the grants programs.
  • Organizes and maintains up-to-date logs and reports for the grant programs established in the operation (manually or through future grant management system).
  • Responds to requests for information from applicants and provide support with regards to administrative processes or systems.
  • Participates in discussions and meetings with regards to revisions, development or implementation of tools and processes for completing grant approvals, monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinates and communicates regularly for projects that are cross sector are recognized in coordination structures
  • Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required.
  • Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Performs other duties, as required.
  • Completion of post secondary education with a minimum of 3 years of job-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a satisfactory Canadian criminal record reference check.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required
  • Ability to work well and make decisions under stressful conditions
  • An understanding of the role of other agencies in disaster response required, especially community-based and not-for-profit organizations
  • Experience in developing and maintaining working relationships with a broad range from individuals to agencies required
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong writing skills
    Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to influence others
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge and experience of Results-Based Management (RBM) is a strong asset
The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is at varying degrees of impact from the fires. This can be from extreme working conditions to minimal impacts.
