Location: Hamilton Salary: $15.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the PRD Staff to prepare kettle material for distribution to all ministry units in the Division as required

As per Divisional standards, ensure that Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinators have all of the required kettle campaign materials

Keep a detailed list of kettle supplies ordered and shipped; an accurate and detailed list of supplies purchased

Promptly and accurately, respond to volunteer inquiries by telephone and email, making appropriate referrals.

Assist in the update of the Kettle System; assist in maintaining Kettle totals in the database and produce reports as required.

Host at a kettle as required for Public Relations activities and events

Perform general clerical functions in the Hamilton Public Relations Office such as prepare mailings, direct telephone inquiries, and greet visitors.

Assist with the preparation and support of special events (Kettle launch, Hope in the City, Santa Shuffle)

Perform other position related duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of or enrolled in a Post-Secondary Diploma or Certificate program in Special Events or Volunteer Management

Experience working with multi-barriered persons is an asset.

Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Self-motivated and disciplined

Experience/Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Products and Web based data entry systems

Good working knowledge of email and Internet

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs/10 kilos 

Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required

Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry

Support for and an understanding of mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered

 

This is a temporary, full time position based on 37.5 hours per week. Schedule will vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some evening and Saturday work may be required.  Shifts include a ½-hour unpaid meal break where applicable.  Normal campaign hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.  Shifts can include the following: split shifts, days, afternoons, evenings and Saturdays

 

Start Date:  October 2, 2017    End Date: December 29, 2017
