Position:                 Group Facilitator (  Healthy Relationships)

Location:                Tri Cities and Maple Ridge

Position Type:        Casual, 4 hours per week between October 2017 and April 2018


Job Summary

Healthy Relationships Group Facilitator will facilitate four, 5 week groups for off-reserve Indigenous families in Maple Ridge (2 groups) and Tri Cities (2 groups). The program runs between October 2017 to April 2018 and is a newly developed four, 5 week groups that uses the Healthy Relationships manual and power point presentation.

In addition the Group Facilitator will be required to do some prep work as required by the program. The position is for a total of 4 hours per week and includes prep, set up/clean-up of room and facilitation time. This program is one time only funding from Indigenous and Northern Affairs


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to Co-Facilitate program effectively
  • Plans and organizes the parent information sessions as outlined in the program manual
  • Implements the program in a relaxed, safe and positive environment
  • Supports parents/care-givers in understanding and implementing learnings of Healthy Relationships
  • Must exhibit excellent time management, problem solving and independence skills
  • Maintains documentation as required
  • Excellent communication, strong written and verbal skills are required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Provides summary of group experience and outcomes
  • Confidence and familiarity with technology


Education/Qualification Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Social Services or related field
  • Demonstrated strong group facilitation skills and experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in trauma based work and attachment theory
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with Indigenous peoples
  • Preference given to one male and one female facilitator
  • Standard First Aid
  • Clear Criminal Record Check


Start Date:            October 16, 2017

Position Type:      Casual, 4 hours per week, when the program is running

Timeline:               October 2017 to April 2018

Reports to:            Community Projects Team Leader

Location:               Tri-Cities

Union:                   This is a union position

Benefits:               No benefits

Salary:                   BCGEU Grid Level 14P, Step 1, $25.74 per hour
