OVERVIEW
The 2019 Canada Winter Games Red Deer Host Society is looking to fill the position of Coordinator, Sponsorship.


In less than two years, thousands of our country’s best and brightest will set their sights on Red Deer as we host the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Up to 3,600 participants from across Canada, 400 media, 500 VIPs, 500 officials and thousands of visitors will join us for the two-week event. Featuring 19 sports and a major arts and cultural festival, the 2019 Canada Games will be the largest event in Red Deer’s history.

 

The Coordinator, Sponsorship is responsible for assisting with the coordination of activities related to sponsorship prospect research, proposal writing, and coordinating signed agreements. Working closely with the Marketing and Revenue team, the Coordinator, Sponsorship supports the sponsorship program, coordinates key client relationships and partner servicing and ensures that sponsor benefits are fulfilled both before and during Games time events.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct research and analysis of prospective sponsors to demonstrate alignment between Games sponsorship opportunities and sponsor objectives;
  • Assist the Manager, Partnerships & Special Events to prepare sponsorship proposals and presentations;
  • Support all Host Society fundraising activities;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders;
  • Assist the development and implementation of business processes to ensure sponsorship obligations are fulfilled as defined in all existing and new contracts and agreements, in consultation with interdependent areas of the Host Society;
  • Support the planning, organization and presentation of sponsor recognition and/or fundraising events according to sponsorship contracts and the revenue generation plan;
  • Organize and coordinate the support and participation of other staff and volunteers in delivery of these events;
  • Work closely with committees and volunteers.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES AND ABILITIES

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in Business, Commerce, Arts, or other related field.
  • Two or more years of related experience that includes sponsorship, fundraising, and/or event planning. A related combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects on-site and off-site.
  • A skilled communicator, especially with written communication.
  • Creative, results-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment where duties and reporting levels are shared.
  • Experience with Google’s G Suite programs, Gmail, Docs, Slides, Calendar, etc. (or equivalent Microsoft Office programs) is required.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
  • Clean driver’s abstract and class 5 (or higher) Canadian driver's license with access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with both staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, sports or multi-sport Games environment is an asset.

 

NOTE

  • Formal office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; however, flexibility will be required. This may include various evening/weekend committee work, varying workload/ deadlines, Games time requirements, etc.
