Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) is currently recruiting for the following position: Junior Developer/Analyst.

 

This role is part of the Business Enterprise Solutions division of the Information Technology department. The Developer/Analyst will support CCFC’s current applications. This support will require the ability to analyze, diagnose and find the root cause of a given problem, solution development, and system administration skills. The Developer/Analyst will be responsible for supporting applications using a variety of programming languages and database systems.

 

The Junior Developer/Analyst also consults with management and helps develop software to fit the user’s needs. You must have excellent communication skills, as you will often be working directly with clients and may be required to train other staff. Flexibility, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to work well with minimal supervision are also preferred traits.

 

This role will manage, support, and respond to help desk incidences and implementing solutions to user’s issues in a timely and accurate manner. Additional responsibilities will include being a liaison between business stakeholders and IT developers.

 

This role includes, but is not limited to:

 

Application Development and Support: 80%

  • Application support and development of current systems utilizing Oracle Forms and Reports, Oracle DBMS, PLSQL, SQL, JavaScript, .NET, PHP, Joomla and other technologies.
  • Design, develop and implement product functions and features.
  • Customer service and relationship building with all business partners and external stakeholder groups in order to effectively manage incidences.
  • Analysis, management, and prioritization of incidences.
  • Maintenance of a minimum standard of turn-around KPIs.
  • Evaluate, analyze, recommend and/or implement solutions to help desk incidences.
  • Triage incoming incidences into break/fix or enhancements for development.
  • Pay particular attention to maintainability, performance, and security for all incidence solutions.
  • Support the IT Solutions Architect in implementing their design requirements.
  • Work closely with the Database Administrator providing back up support as needed.
  • Work with the IT Infrastructure Team on solution implementations.

Quality Assurance: 10%

  • Participate in quality initiatives such as unit testing, code reviewing, coding standards, and source code management.
  • Participate in and recommend new continuous improvement initiatives.

Agile Sprint Administration: 5%

  • Engage in the team’s agile methodology.
  • Actively participate in daily scrums, bi-weekly retrospectives, showcases, and planning sessions.

Other: 5%

  • Comply with all CCFC policies and procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

Required qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience as a Programmer/Analyst.
  • Familiarity with web and database technologies such as: MS SQL, Java/C#, JavaScript, Joomla, mySQL, HTML5, XML, .NET.
  • Experience with Oracle Forms/Reports, Oracle PLSQL, SQL, data import/export methods an asset.
  • Good understanding of Application Design, Relational Database Design and Object Oriented Programming.
  • Willingness to stay abreast of technological trends in the area of software development and design.
  • Comfortable with Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with Source Code Management Systems such as SVN, TFS or similar.
  • Hands on performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to guide users and team mates towards incident resolution.
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve and make recommendations.
  • Ability to prepare and execute test scripts, document and discuss results; guide users in the testing process.
  • Ability to provide user training as requested.
  • Ability to speak and/or write in either French or Spanish will be considered an asset.
