In this newly created role, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced manager who is inspired by our cause to manage all activities related to gift processing and donor account maintenance, including tax receipting, reporting and updating donor information and giving history.


Reporting to the Director, Donor & Information Services, the Manager, Donor Services is responsible for managing the Donor Services (DS) team to ensure all gift processing and donor account maintenance activities are handled accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure Donor Service activities are aligned with organizational priorities and maintains a high level of customer service for BCCHF’s donors.


More specifically, as the manager, you will:

  • Hold Administrator Rights to the Raiser’s Edge (RE) donor database to edit donor history and approve access to the database.
  • Oversee the day to day operations of the Donor Services team to ensure all donations are received, recorded processed and posted in a timely and accurate manager and that excellent donor-centered service is being provided.
  • Ensure that strong customer service is being provided to donor inquiries; provide advice and guidance to staff and donors on more complex issues and handles escalated inquiries and complaints from donors.
  • Ensure that all donor and financial information is secured and stored in compliance with current regulations; develop and implement policies and procedures as needed to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy staff to ensure gift processing needs are met and there is appropriate and adequate security of donor information and funds collected at fundraising events.
  • Provide effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management activities for direct reports.
  • Ensure that transactions in the RE database are reconciled with the Accounting system’s general ledger to support accurate reporting on financial statements.
  • Provide technical training to staff on all gift related aspects of the Foundation fundraising database and acts as a key resource for questions or projects.
  • Analyze Foundation database needs and develop recommendations for short- and long-term data management strategies.
  • Ensure that all activities related to gift processing comply with legislated tax receipting policies established by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA); develops and implements policies and procedures as needed to maintain compliance and ensures staff are educated on tax receipting policies.
  • Develop and monitor the DS department’s annual budget



As the successful candidate you have five to seven years of previous experience in database management, complimented by a minimum of two years’ experience managing a team. You will also have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (ex. accounting or business administration). Previous experience working in a not for profit is considered an asset.


In addition to the qualifications, our ideal candidate has:


  • Significant experience working with a complex database is mandatory. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is considered a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective donor database strategies.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Accounting.
  • Current knowledge of CRA, PCI, Privacy regulations and policy.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and orally), including integrity with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail and excellent customer service ethic.
  • High level of initiative, integrity and diplomacy.
  • An ability to adapt to a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform in a deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and tact.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours on occasion, as needed.
