Primary Responsibilities:
GENERAL
• Monthly financial reconciliation of accounts and funds
• Manage accounting software (QuickBooks Pro 2017) and maintain accounting files at VSW office
• Ensure timely remittance of PST (monthly) and GST (quarterly)
• Preparation of monthly financial statements and grant financial reporting
• Cash flow and variance reporting, including financial projections throughout the year
• Process accounts payable and receivables
• Evaluate budgets and support with budgeting for grant applications
• Coordinate audits and reconcile auditor’s reports
• Prepare and reconcile payrolls, ROEs, T4s, T4As
• Completion of yearly Charity Report
• Summary calendar year-end reporting
• Process T3010 Charitable Tax return
• Complete Gaming Account Summary Reporting annually
• Provide financial support and knowledge to the Coordinating Collective and Women’s Centre Coordinator
• Maintain adequate supporting documentation for reference
• Consistent communication with the Coordinating Collective and Women’s Centre Coordinator both via email and in person, which includes attending and reporting to Coordinating Collective meetings as needed

 

PAYROLL & BANKING
• Ensure timely issuance of all payroll cheques and statutory remittances
• Preparation of T4’s and T4A’s; summary calendar year end reporting
• Maintenance of payroll sub ledger
• Prepare Record of Employment where needed
• Ensure the timely deposit of all incoming monies
• Ensure adequate cash flow by transfer of funds between current account and term deposits

 

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE & ACCOUNT RECEIVABLE
• Ensure timely issuance of cheques for all general expenses incurred by Vancouver Status of Women
• Coordinate with the Women’s Centre Coordinator for detail on sales ledger
• Maintain records/inventories of finances

 

AUDIT
• Prepare fiscal year end lead sheets and account reconciliations
• Liaise with auditors for the duration of the audit

 

Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience bookkeeping for a LGBTQ/2S-inclusive feminist social and/or climate justice non-profit organization
• Knowledge and comfort working with QuickBooks Pro and Excel
• Knowledgeable about anti-oppression and intersectional feminist frameworks; awareness about issues faced by systemically marginalized women from multiple locations and identities, including but not limited to, diversely racialized women, transgender women, disabled women, queer women, poor and working class women
• Knowledge and experience working within a consensus decision-making model
• Experience with Gaming grant applications would be an asset
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work independently as well as collectively

Position Details:
• This is a part-time position for bookkeeping at least twice a month (bi-weekly) at VSW for a maximum of 10hrs/month.
• This position is paid at a rate of $30/hour.
