The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry). We are a fast growing human rights and social services charitable not-for-profit agency for women and girls affected by the justice system with a solid near 80 year history and future opportunities. Our addictions services have doubled recently in the Fraser Valley and we are seeking staff for three treatment programs: Surrey, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Our services cross the spectrum from detox, stabilization, and moderate level treatment to intensive treatment.

Elizabeth Fry’s theory of change is that women are able and willing to take responsibility for their own lives if provided with the opportunity, skills, and choice to do so. Through the opportunity to experience themselves as co-creators of safe support environments, with staff and residents living together, women have the opportunity to restore their sense of health and wellbeing while addressing the impact of drugs or alcohol in their lives within an environment of dignity and fairness that provides women increased engagement with others.

EFry supports women who are poly-drug using, within an abstinence with compassion model.

We are seeking to fill a number of positions: Addiction Treatment Residential Support Worker positions for Day, Afternoon and Evening Shifts.

Evening positions: (Sunday to Wednesday) or (Thursday to Saturday). Your role involves ensuring the safety of clients, and the shared maintenance of the facility with other staff and clients. You will follow policy and procedure and ensure that client case management records are complete and accurate.

Day and Afternoon positions: Your role involves ensuring women are provided the information, support and assistance to make forward movement in their lives. Through an active case management approach from the point of intake, and the delivery of manualized curricula, you will assist women to address the effects of substance misuse in their lives as they move through trauma to resilience.

Experience: Previous experience working with the target population of women with moderate to severe addictions. Familiarity with community resources, particularly addiction, mental health, welfare and harm reduction.

Education: Minimum related Diploma or Certificate plus one/two years of recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience for line staff, and a degree for Supervisor with 3 years’ experience.

Must have administrative skills to manage reports, billing, and external community relationships

Must have a Level One Occupational First Aid Certificate, BC Government Criminal Record Review for working within vulnerable individuals, and participate in EFry funded training of 4 days within your first year of hire.

Ability to work independently or in a team setting, maintain clear boundaries with clients, and the ability to manage an active busy worksite.

Minimum of two years sobriety required for those with lived experience.
