The Supervised Access Worker supervises and facilitates visits between children in care and their natural parent(s), or family to ensure the needs of the children in care are not compromised, the visit is positive, and the parent(s) are supported in reaching the goals set for them by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The number of hours available per week is variable but expected to be up to 10 hours.


Education, Training and Experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Social Services or a related field, and two years paid or volunteer experience in working with children and families. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current First Aid certificate.

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Specialized skill in conflict resolution, child protection, mediation and negotiation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to present clearly and objectively in court.
  • Proficient word processing skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Have no relevant criminal history. A satisfactory criminal record check, verified good character and sufficient reference history are required to satisfy this requirement.
  • Use of a reliable vehicle.
  • Basic counselling skills, multicultural knowledge and ability to work in a dynamic team environment, as well as, independently in the community providing one-to-one support services to youth and their families.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi, Hindi or Urdu an asset
  • Crisis Line experience an asset.
