Job Profile:

The Talent Manager ensures that CMHA’s staff talent philosophy be put into practice by working collectively with all managers and by continuously developing high performing teams and contributing to the achievement of the organization’s goals and objectives.


The Talent Manager provides the day to day management, leadership, supervision, development and motivation of staff using empowerment and skill building approaches and works closely with Human Resources to attract, hire and retain qualified, skilled individuals. In addition, as a member of CMHA’s management team, the Talent Manager offers input and recommendations in a collaborative and effective manner to improve the processes, quality and operations of all programs.
This role provides support and direction to staff through individual and team meetings and is responsible to the organization for the advancement of individuals within CMHA. In accordance with the organization’s Vision, Mission and Values and in accordance with provincial legislation and relevant provincial statutes and common law, the incumbent is responsible to identify and communicate the day-to-day dealings of this growing organization regarding any staff performance issues, as well as training, educational and development needs.


In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships. The Talent Manager may be assigned to different programs as required based on need.


Requirements:
• Post secondary education is required
• Bachelors Degree in Business and/or Management is considered an asset
• 2 or more years experience supervising a team
• Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is considered an asset
• Excellent computer skills in relevant computer applications particularly Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of employment related legislation (ie. Ontario Employment Standards Act, OHS Act, OHRC, etc)
• A second language (French, Cantonese, Mandarin, Farsi, Italian, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tamil, Urdu) reflecting the local community is an asset
• Strong persuading and negotiating skills
• Strong analytical and organization skills, including creating and managing schedules
• Strong process, detail, and customer service skills
• Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills and ability to provide recommendations/solutions
• Team player who fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• A valid Canadian driver’s license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance
• A satisfactory and current Vulnerable Sector Screening


This position reports to and is supervised by the Director of Programs.


Working Conditions:
• Office work, works extensively at a desk using a computer up to 7 hours a day
• Evening and weekend hours will be required
