The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) helps individuals and organizations connect across cultures. We provide information, support and tools to help immigrants reach their goals.  By engaging people through networks, education and arts programming, we create a welcoming community. ICA offers services for newcomers, including settlement and integration counselling, translation and interpretation, English classes, mentoring, volunteer matching, and peer support. We also provide outreach and education in the community through arts programming, as well as workshops on anti-racism, multiculturalism, diversity awareness, immigration and human rights.

Job description

Works with managers and coordinators to prepare funding applications with a focus on youth and arts-based programming. Executes fundraising plans, including public and private funders, foundations, special appeals, fundraising events.

 

Develops and implements fundraising plans to sustain programming and increase diversity of ICA funding sources. Research, prepare and submit funding proposals and reports on deliverables to stakeholders. Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or equivalent in public policy, social sciences and marketing. Minimum of two to three years of experience in fundraising, with proven track record of soliciting gifts. Experience with DonorPerfect, GiftWorks, Raiser’s Edge or another relational database is required. Certified Fund Raising Executive credential preferred. Experience in contributing and writing proposals, developing program logic models and outcomes based programming would be an asset. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred. Proficiency in a major immigrant language and/or immigration experience is an asset.

 

Two to three years of previous work experience in a similar environment (social services, nonprofit organization) and experience working with persons from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds preferred. Experience working with immigrants and/or refugees preferred.

Required skills and abilities

  • Works in close collaboration with Youth and Family Services Coordinator and Arts and Outreach Coordinator and other managers and program staff to identify potential projects.
  • Research and prepares funding proposals aligned with programming needs and opportunities.
  • Ongoing communication with funders regarding deliverables, outcomes, reporting and funding updates as needed.
  • Assumes leadership in the preparation of funding applications for components of ICA’s services; including logic models and budgets.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors and prospective donors; Engages in ongoing relationship management with current and prospective donors; Tracks donor activity in DonorPerfect.
  • Ensures that fundraising results and other data are generated and gathered to provide measurable and benchmarks in relation to strategic targets.
  • Prepares fundraising communication materials as needed.
  • Participates in training opportunities to stay current on issues impacting ICA’s operations and fundraising approaches.
  • Ensures reporting on contractual agreements is delivered on time in collaboration with other ICA staff.
  • Participates in regular team and organization-wide staff meetings; Follows all ICA policies and administrative procedures.

Additional information

  • Some work outside of regular office hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required.
  • Hours required over regularly scheduled hours must be pre-approved.
  • ICA compensates overtime hours with time in lieu.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a car would be an asset.
  • WHMIS training is required.
  • Updated criminal record check, including vulnerable populations check, is required.
