Job Summary


Reporting to the Thrive Program Coordinator, the Facilitator supports clients to acquire skills and competencies in the following areas: Leisure Education & Personal Development; Healthy Living; Physical Health; Education & Employment Readiness; Connections & Communication; and Meaningful Community Engagement.  Facilitators utilize “tell-show-do” methodology and positive reinforcement in teaching and developing clients. Facilitators are responsible for planning and developing curriculums; classroom instruction; and evaluating client progress. Facilitators are responsible for implementing established activities to meet clients’ activation, life skills, work site, recreational, and social needs, and assists clients with activities of daily living as required.


Education, Training, and Experience


  • Two-year college diploma in the applicable field of instruction
  • Two years recent experience in group instruction of pre-employment, computer instruction and employability skills course.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certification
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Two years recent, related experience including supervising outings with clients into the community, facilitating recreation and/or computer classes.
  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Mental health practices.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s license and, where applicable, use of a personal vehicle during working hours
  • Where required Standard First Aid, CPR, and WorldHost Certification.
  • Class 4 Drivers license preferred
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience





  • Ability to motivate clients and/or program participants to learn skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage a varied client load, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment and to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of people.
  • Knowledge of disability issues, resources, and strong community connections
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreation/leisure lifestyle programs, calendars, and monthly statistics
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt learning material for client population (mental health)
  • Excellent and dynamic facilitation skills either 1:1 or in a group setting
  • Knowledge of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Knowledge of adult educational methodologies and instructional techniques


Hours of Work:             Up to 36 hours per week
